Distress Relief Service for the Poor and Needy — 05 January 2026
As part of its ongoing humanitarian and relief activities, Sri Ramakrishna Sharadashrama, Ponnampet, organized a Woollen Blanket Distribution Programme on 05 January 2026 under the Distress Relief initiatives of the Headquarters. The programme was conducted with the noble objective of extending warmth, care, and support to economically disadvantaged people during the cold winter season.
The distribution programme benefited around 80 poor and needy individuals from Ponnampet and nearby villages. Many of the beneficiaries belonged to vulnerable sections of society, including elderly persons, daily wage workers, and families facing financial hardship. The woollen blankets distributed during the programme were intended to provide comfort and protection against the chilly weather conditions experienced during this time of the year.
The programme reflected the ideals of selfless service and compassion inspired by the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda. The monks and volunteers of the Ashrama actively participated in organizing and conducting the distribution smoothly and systematically.
Beyond the material support, the initiative served as a reminder of the spirit of empathy, dignity, and social responsibility that forms the foundation of the service activities undertaken by the Ramakrishna Movement.
The programme concluded peacefully in an atmosphere of devotion, harmony, and dedicated service to humanity.
